How to upload an SVG to Cricut Design Space

  1. Download the SVG from a design’s page.
  2. In Design Space, start a new project and choose Upload, then Upload Image.
  3. Browse to the SVG and open it. It arrives as a cut image with nothing to clean up.
  4. Add it to the canvas and set the width you need.
  5. Choose Make It, pick your material and cut.

What size will it cut?

Every file is 100 mm (about 4 inches) on its longer side, and Design Space lets you resize freely. What changes with size is the thinnest part of the design. Each design’s page lists that at seven sizes from 1 to 12 inches. As a guide, parts of 1 mm and wider cut and weed cleanly in vinyl; thinner than that takes a fresh blade and patience.

On a standard 12 × 12 inch mat a Cricut Explore or Maker cuts up to 11.5 inches wide.

Layered designs

Designs marked Layered have one shape per colour, stacked. In Design Space each layer shows separately in the Layers panel: give each its own colour and the machine will ask for each material in turn.

Questions

Do I need to weld or attach these files?

No. Each single-colour file is already one welded shape, so its parts stay in position on the mat.

Can I use them with Print Then Cut?

Yes. Upload the PNG from the design’s page as a Print Then Cut image, or change the SVG’s operation to Print Then Cut in Design Space.

Will they work on a Cricut Joy?

Yes. A Joy cuts up to 4.5 inches wide, so choose designs whose narrowest part is still at least 1 mm at that size; the table on each design’s page shows it.
