Free mouse SVG files

Free mouse SVG files of the animal itself: a mouse on all fours, a mouse sitting up, mice with cheese, a balloon and a Christmas hat, a face with whiskers, a nose and whiskers on their own, a mouse hole and a tiny door for the skirting board. Each is drawn by code as clean closed shapes.

Tails, whiskers and how small you can go

A mouse is a small round body with two very thin things attached: the tail and the whiskers. Every file is 100 mm on its longer side. On the mouse silhouette the tail runs from about 5 mm wide at the root to under 2 mm at its tip, and there are no whiskers at all, so it is the one to choose for small stickers and for plywood. The designs with whiskers draw each one about 2 mm wide at the cheek, thinning to a point. Cut those in vinyl or card at 80 mm or larger, and weed away from the whisker tips, not towards them.

These are house mice and field mice, drawn from the side as the animal looks: a pointed face, oval ears set back on the head and a long bare tail. None of them is a cartoon character.

Mouse holes and mouse doors

The mouse hole and the mouse door are made for the bottom of a wall. Cut the hole from matt black vinyl so that it reads as a real gap in the skirting board, at 120 to 150 mm wide. The door is a single piece with planks, hinges and a window cut through it: in vinyl the wall colour shows through the cuts, and in 3 mm plywood it can be painted and glued in place.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

How big should a mouse hole decal be?

A real mouse needs very little room, but a decal has to be seen. At 150 mm wide the hole in this file is about 49 mm across and 74 mm tall, which looks right above a skirting board. Use matt black vinyl so that it does not shine.

Will the whiskers survive cutting?

In vinyl and card, yes, at 80 mm or larger: each whisker is about 2 mm wide where it leaves the face. For wood or acrylic choose the mouse silhouette, which has none, or cut the nose and whiskers file large, where each whisker is 3 mm wide at the root.

Which mouse suits a Christmas card?

The Christmas mouse sits up in a hat with a bobble and holds a small present. Cut it from one colour and back the hat band with white, or use the mouse silhouette in grey felt and add a red hat by hand.
