Free baby card SVG files

Free baby card SVG templates for a baby shower or a new arrival: card bases with the fold already in them and a pram, footprints, a moon and stars or a washing line cut out of the front, with a card shaped like a baby vest, a pop-up of toy blocks and a version to print.

Cards for a shower and cards for a birth

Each file is the whole card as one flat sheet with its spine cut as a row of slits, so it folds on the line without a scoring tool. The pictures are cut out of the front panel, and a liner of pastel paper glued inside shows through them. The vest card is the odd one out: the card itself is the shape of a baby vest, folded along the shoulders, so it stands on its two leg edges.

For a shower before the birth, the pram, the footprints, the moon and the washing line suit any baby. Two cards carry the words for afterwards, cut in capitals with a bridge across each closed letter so that the middles stay in. Cut several bases in white and change only the liner: yellow, green, pink or blue.

Sizes and card

The files are 100 mm on their longer side and are scaled up to the size each note gives: 210 mm long for the A6 cards, from half a sheet of A4, 8.5 inches for the A2 card and 280 mm for the square ones, which fit A4; cut those at 270 mm on Letter card. Use card of 220 to 270 gsm. The toes of the footprints are the smallest cut-outs, about 3 mm across at full size, so use a sharp blade and a firm mat.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

How does the vest card stand up?

It folds along the two shoulders, either side of the neck. Opened a little, it stands on the leg edges of the front and the back like a tent. The neck is cut through both layers, so it looks the same from either side.

Can I add the baby’s name or date?

Add it in your cutting software before you cut, or write it on the liner. The pram card and the square moon card leave the most room on the front.

How do the pop-up blocks work?

Each block is a strip cut on two sides and folded on three lines, as tall and as deep as it is wide. Opened to a right angle the three strips stand as cubes; shut, they lie flat. Glue the sheet into the cover everywhere except behind the blocks.
