Free gift card holder SVG files

Free gift card holder SVG templates: a pocket wallet, a card with corner slits, an envelope, a slim box, a Christmas sleeve, a stocking, a coffee cup, a bauble and a long holder for money. Each is sized for the standard card and has its fold lines already cut in.

Sizes that fit the card

Nearly every shop gift card is the size of a bank card: 86 by 54 mm. Each holder here is drawn round that, with a few millimetres to spare, but only at the cut size given in its note. The files are 100 mm on their longer side like the rest of the library, so scale each one up before cutting: the plain wallet to 135 mm tall, the envelope to 145 mm, the slim box to 215 mm wide. At those sizes every one of them fits a sheet of A4 or Letter card; the largest, the box, is 215 by 109 mm.

If your card is an odd size, measure it, add 5 mm to its width, and scale the file until the pocket is that wide. A holder cut a little too large still works. One cut too small does not, so check the width in your cutting software before you load the card.

Folding and gluing

The fold lines are rows of short slits that the blade cuts with the outline, so there is nothing to score. Fold every line before you glue anything. Tabs go inside the pocket: run double-sided tape or a thin line of tacky glue along each tab, fold the pocket up and press it down, keeping glue away from the opening so that the card still slides in.

Card of 200 to 250 gsm suits the wallets, the sleeve and the box. The envelope and the folded card with slits are better in 120 to 160 gsm paper, which folds flatter. The diagonal slits that hold the card corners are cut slightly open so that they show in the file; ease each corner of the card under one at a time.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

What size do I cut a gift card holder?

Use the size in each design's note. The plain wallet is cut 135 mm tall, which makes its pocket 94 mm wide for a card that is 86 mm wide. Cut at the 100 mm the file opens at, every holder here is too small for a real card.

Can I put cash in these instead of a card?

The long money holder is made for it: cut 180 mm wide, its pocket is 162 mm across and takes a banknote laid flat. The envelope and the slim box take notes folded in half or in three.

How do I stop the card falling out?

In the wallet the flap tucks into the pocket in front of the card. In the sleeve, the stocking and the cup the card sits below the rim and only lifts out by the thumb notch. For the post, add a small sticker over the opening.
