Free house SVG files

Free house SVG files: a plain house with a chimney, a home with a heart, a farmhouse, a log cabin, a schoolhouse, a village row, a dolls’ house and more. Windows keep their glazing bars and doors stay joined at the foot, so each house lifts in one piece.

17 designs. Free for personal and commercial use, no sign-up. What you can do with them.

Windows, doors and what holds them in

A window with four panes is four separate holes, and the cross between them is a strip of material about 2 mm wide when the house is 100 mm across. That is fine in vinyl and card at 70 mm and above. For wood and acrylic, cut the detailed houses at 150 mm or wider, or choose the house icon, the house with a heart or the house silhouette, which have only large openings.

Doors are cut as a line round the sides and the top only. The bottom of the door is left joined to the step or the ground under it, so the door does not drop out and there is nothing to glue back in.

New home gifts and family signs

Houses are most often cut for moving day: a card for new neighbours, an ornament with the year, a sign with the family name. The house ornament has an open front for a name or a date and a ring for a ribbon. The house with a heart works on its own or over a line of lettering, and the village row makes a long header for a welcome sign or a Christmas mantel.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Which house is best for a new home ornament?

The house ornament with a blank front. It has a ring at the top for a ribbon and an open panel for a name, a date or an address. Add your lettering inside the panel in your cutting software and weld it to the frame, or engrave it on a backing piece.

Can I light the windows from behind?

Yes. The windows are real openings, so a tea light or a string of lights behind the house shines through them. The village row and the spooky house were drawn with this in mind. Use an LED light, never a flame, behind paper or wood.

How do I make the village row longer?

Cut the row twice, or mirror the second copy in your cutting software, and overlap the strips of ground by a few millimetres. The ground is a plain bar, so the join does not show once the two are glued to a backing.
