Free baseball SVG files

Free baseball SVG files: stitched balls, the stitches on their own, a heart-shaped baseball, bats, a glove, a cap, home plate, a field and a jersey. On every solid ball the seams stop short of the edge, so it lifts off the mat in one piece.

Stitches that keep the ball in one piece

A baseball is a plain circle until the stitches go on, so the stitches carry the whole design. On the solid balls here each seam is a thin line crossed by nine V-shaped stitches, all cut out as one hole. The seams end about 4 mm inside the edge at the 100 mm size of the file, so the ball never falls into panels. The strips left between neighbouring stitches are the narrowest part, about 1.9 mm, so cut the stitched balls at 60 mm or wider in vinyl and at 100 mm or wider in wood or acrylic.

For a white ball with red stitches, skip the cut-outs: cut a plain circle in white and lay the stitches on top in red. The loose stitches are eighteen small pieces. The seams with stitches are two pieces, which is far quicker to weed and place.

Bats, home plate and the rest

The bat is a solid silhouette whose handle is about 5.5 mm wide at 100 mm, sturdy enough to cut from wood. Home plate is drawn in its true shape, as wide as it is deep, and makes a good blank for a name. The cap, the jersey and the glove carry no team name or number, so you can add your own in your cutting software.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

How do I make a white baseball with red stitches?

Cut a plain circle from white and the baseball stitches on their own from red. Make the stitches 82% as wide as the circle, so 82 mm of stitches for a 100 mm ball, and centre them: they then sit where the seams are on the stitched ball. Use the seams with stitches if you would rather place two pieces than eighteen.

How big is the name band on the split baseball?

About 19 mm tall when the ball is 100 mm tall. Type the name in your cutting software, size it to the band and cut everything together, keeping the pieces on the transfer tape so the two halves stay in line.

Which baseball designs work at a small size?

The bat, the crossed bats and home plate have nothing cut out of them and work at any size. The stitched balls need about 60 mm, so the strips between the stitches stay over 1 mm. The distressed ball and the outline have the finest parts: keep them at 80 mm or more.
