Free football SVG files

Free football SVG files for the American game: balls with laces and stripes, a heart-shaped football, a split ball for a name, a helmet, a goal post, a field and a jersey. Every cut-out stops short of the edge, so each ball lifts off the mat in one piece.

21 designs. Free for personal and commercial use, no sign-up. What you can do with them.

Laces, stripes and what holds the ball together

On a real ball the laces and stripes are white on brown. Here they are holes: cut the ball from brown vinyl or card and whatever is underneath shows through as the white. Every stripe ends about 3.6 mm inside the edge at the 100 mm size of the file, which is what keeps the two points joined to the middle.

The laces are the fiddly part. The strips of material between them are about 2 mm wide at 100 mm, so cut the balls with laces at 60 mm or longer in vinyl and 100 mm or longer in wood. For anything smaller use the plain football shape, or cut the laces on their own from white and lay them on top.

Team colours without a logo

Nothing here carries a team name or badge. The helmet has a plain side, the jersey a blank chest and the split football a clear band, so you can add your own school colours, a number or a child’s name in your cutting software.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

How do I make a brown football with white laces?

Cut the plain football shape from brown and the laces and stripes set from white, and lay the white on top. The set is spaced to match the ball when it is 72% as wide: 72 mm of laces and stripes for a 100 mm ball. Or cut the football with laces and stripes from brown and stick it to something white.

How do I put a name in the split football?

Type the name in your cutting software, set it between the two halves and size it to the height of the band, which is about 17 mm when the ball is 100 mm long. Cut all the parts together and keep them on the transfer tape so the spacing holds.

Which football works on a small earring or sticker?

The football silhouette with laces or the plain football shape. Both stay clear at 30 mm long. The distressed football and the outline have much finer parts and need 80 mm or more.
