Free EMT SVG files

Free EMT SVG files: the plain six-point star with a heartbeat, an ambulance, a paramedic with a response bag, a silhouette on a flat base, a stretcher, trauma shears, a medical helicopter, a heart and a monogram frame. The star is the plain one, with no staff and no serpent.

Why the star is plain

The six-pointed star with a staff and serpent in the middle is a protected emblem, so a free file should not copy it. The star in this set is the plain shape underneath: three bars crossed at sixty degrees, with either nothing on it or a heartbeat trace. It still reads as emergency care at a glance, and you are free to cut it in any colour. If your service has its own badge, lay that on top yourself.

On the star with a heartbeat at 100 mm tall each bar is 29 mm wide and the trace is a cut about 2.6 mm wide, which weeds easily in vinyl down to about 40 mm. The ambulance is 100 mm long and about 65 mm tall. Its wheel arches, door line and heartbeat stripe are cuts about 2 mm wide, so keep it at 70 mm long or more.

Sizes and thin parts

The stretcher has the finest solid parts: its scissor legs and side rail are between 2 and 3 mm wide at 100 mm, so cut it at 90 mm or more and weed from the mattress outwards. The trauma shears, the response bag and the heart have nothing fine in them and work as small stickers for a locker or a water bottle. The silhouette stands on a straight strip of road, so in card or plywood it can stand upright in a shadow box.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Is this the official emergency medical star?

No, and that is on purpose. The official emblem has a staff and a serpent in the middle and is a protected mark. These files use only the plain six-barred star, on its own or with a heartbeat trace, which anyone may cut and sell.

Can I add a station number or a name to the ambulance?

Yes. The side of the box is plain above the stripe and to the right of the star. In your cutting software, set a short number or name there in a bold face and cut it from a second colour, or subtract it from the body for a single layer.

How large is the opening in the monogram star frame?

About 55 mm across when the frame is 100 mm tall. That takes two or three initials or a four digit year. The ring round the opening is about 6 mm wide, so lettering welded to it will hold.
