Free wedding card SVG files

Free wedding card SVG templates: card bases with the fold already in them and linked hearts, a tiered cake, champagne flutes or two birds cut out of the front. There is a card shaped like a heart, a tuxedo gate fold with a bow tie, a pop-up cake and a version to print and cut by hand.

11 designs. Free for personal and commercial use, no sign-up. What you can do with them.

How the cards are made

Each file is the whole card as one flat sheet: back panel, front panel and the spine between them, which is a row of short slits that the blade cuts with everything else, so there is nothing to score. The art is cut out of the front and nothing is left loose inside a cut-out. The two linked hearts are drawn like rings through each other, each cut away except where the other crosses it, so a band of card runs between them and holds the middle in.

Glue a liner inside the front, a little smaller than the panel, in gold, blush or the colours of the wedding, and the hearts and the cake show in that colour. The card with two birds comes with its liner as a second piece. The tuxedo card wants a white liner behind its V for the shirt, with the bow tie glued at the top.

Sizes and card

The files are 100 mm on their longer side, like the rest of the library, so scale each one up to the size its note gives. The A6 cards are cut 210 mm long and use half a sheet of A4; the A2 cards are half a sheet of Letter. The heart-shaped card is cut 200 mm wide and folds to 100 × 107 mm. The square cards are 280 mm long opened out, which fits A4 but is just too long for Letter, so cut those at 270 mm there.

Pearlescent or linen card of 220 to 270 gsm suits a wedding and folds well on the slits. Lighter paper sags where the cake is cut away, and board over 300 gsm cracks along the spine. Fold with the slits on the outside of the bend, and press the fold with a bone folder.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Which envelope fits?

An A6 card (105 × 148 mm) takes a C6 envelope, an A2 card (4.25 × 5.5 inches) takes an A2 envelope, the tall card with the flutes takes a DL envelope and a 140 mm square card takes a 145 or 150 mm square envelope. The heart-shaped card, 100 × 107 mm, fits a 130 mm square one.

How does the tuxedo card open?

Like a jacket. The two doors fold in from the sides and meet down the middle, where the V between the lapels shows the liner behind as a shirt front. Glue the bow tie to the liner at the top of the V, not to the doors, so that the doors still open.

Can I add the names and the date?

The files carry none, so one card suits any couple. Add names in your cutting software on the liner, write them inside, or cut them from vinyl for the back panel. On the layered card the band can be swapped for one with your own lettering.
