Free hockey SVG files

Free hockey SVG files: sticks on their own and crossed, a puck, skates, a goal, a rink seen from above, a jersey and an emblem. Crossed sticks are welded where they meet and a puck drawn with a stick always touches it, so each design lifts off the mat in one piece.

Sticks, pucks and what holds them together

A hockey stick is a long thin shape, so it is the part to plan around. The single stick is 100 mm wide in the file and its shaft is about 6 mm across, which is fine in vinyl and card at any sensible size and strong enough in 3 mm plywood at 100 mm or more. The five slanted cuts in the blade are the tape. They stop about 2 mm short of the edges of the blade, so the blade stays whole.

Where two sticks cross they are welded, and wherever a puck appears it overlaps a blade, so every design here lifts as one piece. The puck on its own is drawn from a little above, with a cut line round the front of its top face and eleven grip marks down the side.

Rink, goal and jersey

The rink is a solid sheet in the proportions of a 200 by 85 foot rink, with the lines, the five face-off circles and the goal creases cut out. Each circle is broken into arcs so that its middle stays attached. The goal is about three units wide to two tall, with a diamond net welded to the frame. The jersey has a blank chest: nothing in this set carries a team name, crest or number.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Can I cut the crossed sticks in two colours?

Yes. Cut the single hockey stick twice, once in each colour, and flip one copy. Lay the first stick down, then cross the second over it a little under halfway up the shaft, using the crossed sticks design as a guide for the angle.

How do I add a number to the puck?

Use the hockey puck on its own. At 100 mm wide its flat top face is an oval about 34 mm deep, enough for a two-digit number or a short name. Add the text in your cutting software and either cut it out of the puck or lay it on top in a second colour.

Is there anything here for field hockey?

One design: the crossed field hockey sticks with a ball. Everything else in the set is for ice hockey.
