Which bunny for which Easter make

Every file is 100 mm on its longer side. The sitting silhouette, the head and the ears are the workhorses: solid shapes with rounded ends everywhere, so they cut cleanly in vinyl at 30 mm for egg decals and in 3 mm plywood at 80 mm for basket tags. The ears are the slimmest part of any bunny here, and even they are over 10 mm wide at full size.

The faces have small cuts for the eyes, the teeth and the whiskers. The whisker slits are under 2 mm wide at full size, so keep a face at 80 mm or taller in vinyl and weed the slivers with a pin. In card, use 200 gsm or heavier so the bars beside the teeth do not tear.

The bunny butt, the feet and the ears are made to be used on round things. Put the ears at the top and the feet at the bottom of a jar, a plant pot or a wreath ring and the object becomes the body.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

How do I put a name on the split bunny?

The file is two pieces with a clear band between them, about 15 mm tall when the bunny is 100 mm tall. Type the name in your cutting software, size it to sit in the band and cut all three together. Lift them with one piece of transfer tape so the spacing stays as drawn.

How do I make the bunny tail white?

On the bunny butt the tail is a hole with a scalloped edge. Stick the bunny on something white, or put a circle of white card, felt or a pompom behind the hole. On the sitting silhouette the tail is part of the shape: glue a small pompom or a cotton ball on top of it.

What size should bunny ears be for a headband or a jar?

For a child’s headband, cut the ears at about 150 mm tall from stiff card or craft foam and glue the base tuft round the band. For a jar or a plant pot, make the pair about as wide as the lid: an 80 mm pair suits a standard jam jar.
