Free tennis SVG files
Free tennis SVG files: a strung racket, crossed rackets with a ball, a ball with its seams, a racket and ball together, a player serving, a forehand, a court from above, a ball heart, a court shoe and a monogram racket. The strings are solid and the squares between them are cut out, so every racket holds together.

Strings you can actually cut
The strings are the hard part of a racket. Drawn true to life they would be hairlines, so here the head carries five strings one way and seven the other, each about 1.7 mm wide when the racket is 100 mm tall. That is the slimmest part of the design. In adhesive vinyl and iron-on it weeds well at 100 mm and above: pick the squares out one row at a time. In card, cut the racket at 150 mm or more, or use the monogram racket, whose head is an open ring with no strings at all.
The ball has its two seams cut as curves that stop about 4 mm short of the edge at 100 mm, which keeps it in one piece. On the two players the racket head is a plain ring, because strings at that size would not survive the blade. The court is cut as slots, each ending just before the line it meets, so the service boxes do not drop out. Put white card or vinyl behind it and the lines show white.
Sizes for shirts, bags and cards
On a team shirt the crossed rackets or the racket and ball sit well at 90 mm on the left chest or 220 mm across the back. The serve silhouette is tall and narrow and suits a water bottle or the side of a racket bag at 120 to 150 mm. For cards and gift tags the ball, the ball heart and the shoe are solid shapes that cut cleanly at 40 mm.
How to open the files
- Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
- Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
- LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
- Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
- Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.
Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.
Questions
How do I weed the strings of the tennis racket?
Weed the outside first, then lift the squares between the strings one row at a time with a fine hook, working from the throat towards the tip. At 100 mm tall each square is a little over 3 mm across. If that is too fiddly for the vinyl you have, cut the racket larger or use the monogram frame, which has no strings.
Can I put an initial in the racket head?
Yes. The tennis racket monogram frame has a round head drawn as an open ring about 57 mm across inside when the design is 100 mm tall. Set an initial or a short name in the ring in your cutting software, and cut it from a second colour or weld it to the ring.
What colour should the tennis ball be?
A match ball is optic yellow, a bright yellow with a hint of green. In vinyl, a fluorescent or lemon yellow is the closest. Lay white behind the two seams, or use the layered design, which has the ball and its seams as separate layers.
