Free cocktail SVG files

Free cocktail SVG files: a margarita with a lime wheel, one with a salt rim, a tall tropical drink with a paper umbrella, a coupe with a cherry, an old fashioned, a pina colada, a drink in a coconut, a shot glass, a set of bar tools and more. Garnishes are welded to the glass, so each drink lifts in one piece.

Glass that reads as glass

A drink in a glass is hard to show in one colour, so these files use one rule throughout. The drink is the solid part. The air above it, inside the glass, is cut away, which leaves the wall of the glass as a line a little under 3 mm wide at full size. Ice cubes and bubbles are windows cut into the drink. Lay the cut shape on a second colour and the windows fill with it: pale green behind a margarita, amber behind an old fashioned.

Every file is 100 mm on its longer side. The thin parts are the stems, about 4.5 mm wide on a full-height glass, and the straws and umbrella sticks, which run from 2.5 to 4 mm. Vinyl and card are happy with all of them down to about half size. Weed the air out of each glass towards the rim, and lift the lime wheels last: their spokes are just under 2 mm.

Where they get used

The margaritas go on taco night signs, patio tumblers and fiesta invitations. The tropical drink, the coconut and the paper umbrella suit luau and pool party sets. The bar tools and the row of three drinks are wide designs, made for the header of a menu, a bar cart sign or a recipe card. For a real glass, cut from permanent vinyl at about 50 mm and keep the design below the rim.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

How do I show salt on the rim of the margarita?

The margarita with a salt rim has a row of small round crystals welded along the top of the glass. Cut that design in white or silver vinyl on a dark surface and the rim reads as salt. For a second colour, cut the glass once in your main colour and once in white, and keep only the rim from the white one.

Which cocktail designs are safe to cut small?

The cocktails silhouette, the cocktail umbrella and the lime wheel with a wedge. The silhouette has nothing cut out of it and stays clear at 40 mm wide. The drinks with open bowls and lime wheels need about 60 mm, because the wall of the glass and the spokes of the lime get too thin below that.

Can I colour the drink separately from the glass?

Yes. Use the layered mixed drink, which has the glass, the drink, a red layer at the bottom, the straw and the slice as separate colours. For the single colour designs, put coloured card or vinyl behind the cut shape and it shows through the open bowl, the ice and the lime.
