Free donut SVG files

Free donut SVG files: iced rings with sprinkles, dripping icing, a drizzle, a bite taken out, a heart, a stack and a row. The icing is drawn with a cut line and small bridges, so each donut holds together as one piece. Download as SVG, PNG or DXF.

Icing lines, bridges and sprinkles

Seen from above, a donut is a ring, and the only thing that tells icing from dough in one colour is the line between them. In these files that line is about 2 mm wide and is broken by four small bridges, each about 4 mm across. Without the bridges the outer rim of dough would fall away as a loose ring, so leave them in place when you weed.

The sprinkles are bars about 5.5 mm long and 2.7 mm wide when the donut is 100 mm across. That is comfortable in vinyl down to about 60 mm. Below that, use the plain ring doughnut or the donut with a drizzle, which have fewer and larger cuts. On a laser, sprinkles this size cut cleanly in 3 mm plywood at full size.

Donuts in colour

For a two-colour donut, cut the plain ring doughnut from tan or kraft card and the icing layer from pink, white or brown: the icing is drawn to sit inside the ring with dough showing all round. Put a third colour behind the icing and the sprinkles show through as that colour. The layered donut does the same job in a side-on view.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

How do I colour the sprinkles?

The sprinkles are holes, so the colour comes from whatever is behind them. Stick the donut on a sheet of bright or striped paper, or colour the backing with pens before you lay the donut on top.

Will the middle of the donut fall out?

The hole is meant to. The ring round it is one piece: the icing lines stop at bridges, so the rim of dough, the icing and the edge of the hole all stay joined.

Which donut is best for a party banner or garland?

The plain ring doughnut and the sprinkle donut. Both are round with no thin parts, so they hang well from a thread through the hole and survive being handled.
