Free raccoon SVG files

Free raccoon SVG files: a masked face, raccoons walking and standing, a sitting kit, a raccoon in a dustbin, one peeking over a ledge, a raccoon in a hollow tree, one hugging a heart, a ringed tail and paw prints. Each is drawn by code and welded into clean shapes.

The mask and the rings in one colour

A raccoon is known by two things, the black mask across its eyes and the rings on its tail, and both are a pattern of dark on light. In these files the dark parts stay and the light parts are cut away: the white brows above the mask and the white muzzle below it are windows, and each pale ring of the tail is a window with a rim of about 2 mm left along both edges so the tail holds together. Cut a raccoon once from black or dark grey, put white or pale grey behind it, and the face is finished.

Every file is 100 mm on its longer side. The face is the sturdiest design and cuts well down to 40 mm. The side views have fingers and toes about 1.5 mm across, so keep those at 80 mm or more.

Hands, not paws

A raccoon has long, separate fingers, and its front print looks like a small human hand. The peeking raccoon and the raccoon in a trash can both use that: each has a hand of five fingers hooked over an edge. Line the ledge of the peeking raccoon up with the top of a pocket, a letter box or a shelf label, and the animal seems to be climbing out from behind it.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

How do I make the mask show up?

The mask is the solid part between two cut-out areas, so it takes the colour of whatever you cut. Use black, charcoal or dark brown for the raccoon and put white behind the brows and the muzzle. On a white shirt or a pale wall, the surface does the job with no second layer.

Will the rings on the tail fall apart when I cut them?

No. Each ring is a window that stops short of both edges of the tail, so a rim joins every dark band to the next. On the walking raccoon that rim is a little over 2 mm at 100 mm; scale up before cutting from wood.

What are the raccoon tracks for?

They are a front and a hind print, each made of a pad and five loose toes. Cut several, alternate front and hind, and set them in pairs to lead across a card, up a wall or round a classroom to a nature table.
