Free strawberry SVG files

Free strawberry SVG files: seeded berries with a leafy top, outlines, a berry cut in half, a chocolate-dipped one, a cluster of three and a plant border. The berry is the same on both sides and the seeds sit in even rows. Download as SVG, PNG or DXF.

Seeds are the fiddly part

A strawberry is a broad, sturdy shape, so the outline cuts well in anything. The work is in the seeds. Each one is a teardrop hole about 6 mm long and 3.7 mm wide when the berry is 100 mm tall, and there are around twenty of them. In vinyl, weed them with a pin and they lift out cleanly. Below about 50 mm tall they become too small to weed in comfort, so switch to the strawberry silhouette, which has none.

The calyx, the ring of leaves on top, ends in six sharp points. Burnish those well on heat transfer vinyl, as points are the first parts to lift in the wash. On a laser the points char first, so keep the power modest or cut the berry at 70 mm or more.

Red fruit, green top

For a two-colour berry from a single-colour design, cut it once in red and once in green and trim both along the cut line under the leaves, which is there to guide you. Keep the fruit from the red and the calyx and stalk from the green. The layered strawberry does this for you and adds a third sheet of yellow seeds to place on top.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

What is the strawberry with no stem for?

It is the fruit alone, with seeds but no leaves or stalk. People use it under a bow, a crown or a monogram topper, or cut the fruit and the leaves from different materials. The plain top edge makes it easy to weld other shapes on.

How do I add a name to the split strawberry?

Type the name in your cutting software, place it in the band between the two halves and size it to the height of the band, about 19 mm when the berry is 100 mm tall. Cut all the parts together and keep them on transfer tape so the spacing holds.

Which strawberry suits a jam jar label?

The strawberry with a heart or the classic seeded strawberry at about 40 mm, in permanent vinyl on the glass. For a paper label round the lid, the strawberry plant border fits a strip about 100 mm long and 35 mm tall.
