Free bike SVG files

Free bike SVG files, all seen from the side: a town bike, a step-through bicycle with a rack, a bike with a basket of flowers, a mountain bike, a road bike, a BMX, a tandem, a penny-farthing, a child’s bike and a tricycle, plus a wheel, an icon and an outline.

16 designs. Free for personal and commercial use, no sign-up. What you can do with them.

Spokes, tubes and how small you can go

A bicycle is nearly all thin lines, which is what makes it tricky to cut. In these files the spokes are between 1.6 and 2 mm wide and the frame tubes about 2.7 mm when the bike is 100 mm long. That is comfortable in vinyl and card from 90 mm upwards. For anything smaller, or for wood and acrylic, use the bike silhouette or the simple bike icon: the silhouette has eight broad spokes a wheel and the icon has none at all.

Weed the wheels first, starting with the wedges between the spokes and working from the hub outwards, then lift the large pieces inside the frame. On a cutting machine, slow the blade down for the spoked designs so the sharp ends of the wedges do not lift.

Standing bikes and floating bikes

Most of the bikes here float: the tyres are the lowest point and nothing is under them, which is right for a shirt or a card. Four of them stand on a strip of ground that the tyres sink into slightly: the bike silhouette, the bike with a basket of flowers, the child’s bike and the tricycle. Those are single pieces with a flat foot, so they can be glued into a shadow box or stood on a shelf edge when cut from wood.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Which bike is easiest to weed?

The simple bike icon, which has two open rings and a handful of thick lines. After that the bike silhouette, with eight broad spokes a wheel. The road bike has the most spokes, sixteen a wheel, and is best kept to 120 mm or longer.

Can I put flowers in a different colour from the bike?

Use the layered bike with a flower basket. The wheels, the frame, the saddle, the stems, the basket, the flower heads and the daisy centres are separate layers, so each can be cut from its own colour and stacked.

How do the heart wheels stay in one piece?

Each wheel is a solid disc with a heart cut out of it, and the frame tubes and fork run across the heart to a small hub in the middle. Nothing is loose, so the bike with heart wheels lifts off the mat in one go.
