Free chihuahua SVG files

Free chihuahua SVG files: a standing silhouette on a flat base, a sitting chihuahua, a long haired chihuahua, a face with enormous ears, a head in side view, a puppy, a mum and pup, a peeking chihuahua, and versions with a heart, a bone, a paw print and a ring for an initial. All drawn by code as clean closed shapes.

Sizes, materials and the fine parts of a chihuahua

Every file is 100 mm on its longer side. A chihuahua is a small body under a big head, and the ears are bigger still, so on the faces the ears take up more room than the face does. Each ear is a rim round a cut-out inner ear, about 6 mm wide at full size on the face. In vinyl that is easy from about 60 mm. In 3 mm plywood keep the face at 100 mm or wider and sand the ear rims lightly with the grain.

The side views have the finest legs of any dog in the library, about 6 mm across at the pastern at full size, with a tail that curves up over the back to a blunt tip. Cut the standing silhouette at 80 mm or taller in wood and acrylic. For small stickers and key rings, the sitting chihuahua is safer: it shows one front leg, and its tail curls up close behind the body.

Smooth coat and long coat

Most of the set is the smooth coat, with clean edges. The long haired chihuahua has fringes on the back of the ears, a ruff on the chest, feathering under the belly and behind the legs and a plume for a tail. Its locks end in soft points, so weed it from the body outwards. The bone under the sitting chihuahua is a blank name plate, and the paw print badge is five loose pieces that need transfer tape or a backing sheet.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Is this an apple head or a deer head chihuahua?

An apple head: the skull is a round dome, the stop between the forehead and the muzzle is sharp, and the muzzle is short. A deer head chihuahua has a flatter skull and a longer muzzle. There is no separate deer head drawing in this set, though the big ears and the fine legs are the same on both.

What colours should I use for the layered face?

It is drawn for a fawn chihuahua: a fawn head, pink inner ears, a cream muzzle and brow spots, and dark eyes, nose and mouth. For a black and tan dog use black for the head and tan in place of the cream. For a white or cream dog use cream for the head and leave the muzzle layer off.

Will the thin legs survive weeding?

Yes, at a sensible size. Each leg is one smooth piece with no cuts inside it, and the standing silhouette is cut level under the feet so all four touch the base line. In vinyl keep it at 50 mm or taller and peel the waste down the legs, from the body towards the feet.
