Free phlebotomy SVG files

Free phlebotomy SVG files with no lettering: a blood collection tube, a butterfly needle, a needle in its tube holder, a heart drawn in tubing, a rack of tubes, a blood bag, a phlebotomist holding a tube to the light, a silhouette on a flat base and a monogram frame.

Needles drawn to be cut

A real needle is far too fine for a blade, so every needle here is drawn stouter than life: about 2.5 mm wide when the design is 100 mm across, with tubing about 3 mm. That is still the delicate part. Cut the butterfly needle, the tube holder and the needle decal at 90 mm or more in vinyl, weed towards the point of the needle and peel the transfer tape back along it, not across it. For wood or acrylic go to 150 mm, or pick a design with no needle.

The tubes are sturdy. On the blood tube with drops the glass walls are about 3 mm wide and the window above the blood and the blank label are simple openings, so it weeds in seconds. The heart with a tube, the cute blood drop and the tubes held by a band have nothing fine in them and work as 40 mm stickers.

Stopper colours and blank labels

Stopper colours mean something to anyone who draws blood, so the layered design uses three that are seen most often: lavender, red and light blue. Swap them for your own favourites in your cutting software. Labels are left blank on every tube so that you can add a name, initials or a date. The blood bag and the tube with drops come as loose pieces on purpose, since a drop that has fallen cannot be joined to anything.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Will the butterfly needle hold together when I weed it?

Yes, it is one piece: needle, hub, wings, tubing and fitting are all joined. The needle is about 2.5 mm wide and the tubing about 3 mm when the design is 100 mm across. Keep it at 90 mm or larger and lift the waste away from the needle slowly.

Can I change the colour of the tube stoppers?

Yes. In the layered design each stopper is its own layer, so cut each from any colour you like. In the single colour designs the whole tube is one shape, so the stopper takes the colour of the vinyl.

Which phlebotomy design is best for a badge reel?

A badge reel face is about 30 mm across, so use the heart with a tube and drops or the cute blood drop, which have no thin parts. The needles and the heartbeat line need more room and suit shirts, tumblers and tote bags.
