Free skateboard SVG files

Free skateboard SVG files: a board from the side and from underneath, a pintail longboard, an ollie, a skater pushing, a skater girl, a girl with her board, a child in a helmet, a quarter pipe, a rail grind, a helmet and a wheel. On every skater the board is welded to the shoes, so each one cuts as a single piece.

Small wheels, thin decks

A skateboard is a long thin plank on four small wheels, so the board on its own is easy and the board under a skater is the fine part. On the side view at 100 mm long the deck is about 5 mm thick and each wheel is nearly 17 mm across, with its core held by two bridges. Under the skaters the board is drawn a little heavier than life: when a skater is 80 mm tall the deck is about 2.5 mm thick and the wheels close to 6 mm, which a blade can still follow.

For vinyl on a helmet, a deck or a laptop, the ollie and the skater girl work from about 70 mm. For iron-on on a shirt, 180 to 220 mm is usual. In card, lift a skater from the body and let the board follow, because the join between shoe and deck is the place that bends. The deck from underneath, the pintail, the helmet and the wheel are solid shapes that go down to 40 mm.

Tricks and where they happen

The ollie is the jump that every other street trick starts from: the board leaves the ground with nothing holding it to the feet. The grind slides the trucks along a rail, and the quarter pipe is the curved wall of a skate park. The skater pushing is the plainest picture of the lot and the one that stands in a shadow box. The child wears a helmet and knee pads, which makes that design a good one for a skate school, a first board or a safety poster.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Can I put a name on the skateboard deck?

Yes. The deck from underneath has a clear panel between the two trucks, about 28 mm wide and 50 mm long when the design is 100 mm tall. Turn the design on its side, set a name along the panel in your cutting software and cut it from a second colour.

Which skateboard design suits a birthday party?

The ollie and the board from the side are the usual pair: the ollie on the invitation at 60 to 80 mm in card, and the board across a banner or a cake topper. For a younger child, the boy in a helmet is rounder and easier to cut small.

Why is the skater’s board thicker than a real one?

A real deck is about 1 cm thick under a rider who is 170 cm tall. Drawn to scale it would be a hairline that a blade tears and a laser burns through. It is drawn about twice as thick as life, which still reads as a skateboard and survives being cut at 70 mm.
