Free tent SVG files

Free tent SVG files: a ridge tent with guy lines, a dome tent, a bell tent, a teepee camp tent, a circus big top, a carnival tent with bunting, a tent beside a campfire, a silhouette, an outline and a monogram frame. Each one stands on a flat base and cuts as one piece.

Guy lines, doors and what holds a tent together

A tent is mostly plain canvas, so the details that make it read are thin ones: guy lines, pole tips and the gap between the door flaps. Here the guy lines are a little over 2 mm thick when the tent is 100 mm wide, which cuts cleanly in vinyl from about 70 mm and in card from 100 mm. For wood or acrylic, cut at 150 mm or more, or pick the tent silhouette or the simple tent, which have no guy lines at all.

Doorways are real openings. On the dome, bell, teepee and circus tents the opening stops just short of the ground, so the bottom edge is one straight unbroken line. That makes these tents easy to stand up as a layer in a paper scene or a shadow box: glue a tab along the foot and nothing else needs support.

Camp signs, party invitations and big tops

The camping tents suit pitch signs, scout and guide badges, mugs and the cover of a trip journal. The tent monogram frame has a wide blank opening for a name or a pitch number. The circus tent and the carnival tent are for birthday invitations, cake toppers and fair posters: their stripes are cut openings, so backing them with red or yellow card gives a two-colour tent from a single cut.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Which tent is easiest to cut small?

The simple tent for children and the tent silhouette. Neither has guy lines, and the only openings are a doorway and, on the simple tent, a heart. Both hold together well at 40 to 50 mm wide in vinyl.

How do I make the circus tent red and white?

Cut the tent once in red and glue it on white card, then trim round the outside. The roof wedges, the two wall stripes and the doorway are openings, so the white shows through as stripes. Swap the colours for a white tent with red stripes.

Can the tents stand up in a paper scene?

Yes. Every tent has a straight bottom edge. Add a strip about 10 mm deep below the foot in your cutting software, weld it on, and fold it back as a tab to glue to the floor of the scene.
