Free pool SVG files

Free pool SVG files: a swimming pool from above, the poolside from the side, an above-ground pool, a diving board, a pool ladder, a duck float, a water slide, a lifeguard chair, a hot tub, a beach ball, a splash and a blank pool sign. The side views stand on a flat base.

Water that holds together

Water is the hard part of cutting a pool, because it is mostly empty. In the pool from above the water is left open and three ripples run right across it from one side of the coping to the other, so each ripple is held at both ends and the swim ring and the beach ball sit on a ripple. The coping is about 4.5 mm wide when the design is 100 mm long and the ripples are about 2 mm, which cuts well in vinyl from 100 mm and in card from 120 mm.

In the side views the water is a solid band with a wavy top and a straight underside. That gives the diving board, the ladder, the duck float and the slide something to stand on, and it means you can glue a tab along the bottom and stand them up in a layered summer scene.

Signs, parties and pool bags

The pool sign has a clear space about 70 mm wide above its waves at 100 mm across, for a family name or a short rule. The beach ball, the duck float and the splash are the ones for towels, bags and party invitations: the ball has three open panels to show a second colour, and the splash is the only design with loose pieces, its seven drops, so keep them in place with transfer tape.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Which pool design stands up in a shadow box?

The pool silhouette from the side, the above-ground pool, the diving board, the water slide, the lifeguard chair, the hot tub, the ladder and the duck float all have a straight bottom edge. The silhouette is the widest and makes a good front layer.

How do I make the pool water blue?

Cut the swimming pool from above in white or grey and lay it over blue card: the water is open, so the blue shows through between the ripples. Or use the layered pool, which has the deck, coping, water, ripples, swim ring and ladder as six separate colours.

Is the splash one piece?

The crown and the ripple under it are one piece. The seven drops above it are separate, which is how a splash is drawn. In vinyl, weed as usual and the transfer tape keeps the drops in place. In card or wood, glue the drops on by eye or leave them off.
