Sizes and what to cut them from
Most of these are bold single shapes that cut cleanly in vinyl, iron-on and card from about 60 mm: the speech bubbles, the backpack, the box of tissues and the seedling have cut lines about 2 mm wide at 100 mm and nothing thinner. The counselor holding up a heart has finer lines for the lanyard and the front of the cardigan, a little over 1.5 mm at 100 mm tall, so keep it to 90 mm or more.
The office with two armchairs is wide and low, about 45 mm tall at 100 mm wide, and suits a door sign in wood or acrylic. The silhouette with a pupil has no lines inside it and stands on a straight strip, so it can be cut small or stood up in a shadow box.
Adding a name, a room or a school
Nothing here carries wording. The speech bubble frame is open in the middle for a name or a room number, the badge has two clear bands for a name and a title, and the front of the box of tissues has room for a short line above the band. Set the words in your own cutting software, in the face your school uses.
How to open the files
- Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
- Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
- LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
- Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
- Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.
Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.
Questions
Which design works for a door sign?
The open door with a heart and the office with two armchairs were both drawn for that. Cut either at 150 mm or more from wood or acrylic and add the name on a second layer, or use the speech bubble frame, which leaves a clear space about 82 mm wide for the name itself.
Is there a version for a counselor who is a man?
The standing figure has shoulder-length hair, a cardigan and trousers, and no face. The silhouette with a pupil, the head in profile and all the objects have nothing that marks them as a woman or a man, so those are the ones to use for anyone.
What can I make for a school counseling week gift?
The seedling in a pot suits a card or a plant pot, the backpack and the speech bubbles suit a tote bag or a tumbler, and the badge on a lanyard can carry the name. All of them cut well in iron-on at 70 to 90 mm.
