A cup on a thin stem
A trophy cup is a wide bowl on a narrow stem, and the stem is the part that decides how small you can go. In these files it is about 9 mm wide when the cup is 100 mm tall, and the handles are lines about 5 mm wide. Vinyl and card cope with that at 40 mm tall. For wood or acrylic keep the cup at 70 mm or more, and for a cupcake topper use the simple trophy, whose stem and ring handles are the thickest in the set.
The plate on the base is an open window, 31 mm wide and 7 mm tall at 100 mm. That is too small for cut lettering at that size, so either write on the surface behind it or scale the trophy up: at 200 mm tall the plate takes a short name in 10 mm letters.
Awards without the engraving bill
For a class or a team, cut one trophy per child from gold card and write each name on the plate by hand. The star trophy suits star of the week, the heart is for the people who drive everyone to practice, and the podium has three empty steps for a sports day chart. The award plaque has a window 56 mm wide and 40 mm tall for a printed or handwritten citation.
How to open the files
- Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
- Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
- LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
- Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
- Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.
Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.
Questions
How do I add a name to the trophy?
Use the plate on the base or the design with a blank banner. Scale the trophy until the opening is big enough for your lettering, type the name in your cutting software, and either cut it from a second colour to sit in the opening or weld it across the opening so it cuts with the trophy.
Which trophy is best for small stickers?
The simple trophy or the silhouette. Neither has fine cut-outs, so they stay clear at 20 to 25 mm tall. The cup with a star needs about 40 mm before its plate and glint weed cleanly.
Why are there no numbers on the podium?
So the same file works for any event and any order. The three steps carry empty panels: add your own figures, names or team colours. The tallest step is in the middle, as on a real podium.
