Free firework SVG files
Free fireworks SVG files for the Fourth of July, New Year and bonfire night: round bursts, a willow, a pinwheel and a fountain, plus rockets, firecrackers and a sparkler. Most bursts are joined at the centre so they cut as one piece.

One-piece bursts and loose bursts
A firework is mostly empty space, which makes it awkward to cut. Most of the bursts here are drawn with every trail joined at the centre, so a burst comes off the mat as one piece and goes down in one move. Each trail is thin where it leaves the middle and ends in a round head, which is what makes it read as a spark in flight and not a star or a sun.
The simple firework and the three-colour burst are the other kind: separate dashes and dots round an empty middle. Do not weed and place those by hand. Cover the whole design with transfer tape before you lift it, and the spacing stays exactly as drawn.
Sizes and materials
At 100 mm across, the trails of the round bursts are about 2 mm wide at their thinnest and nearly 6 mm at the head. That is fine in vinyl and card down to about 60 mm. In wood or acrylic the thin ends are the weak point, so cut bursts at 120 mm or more, or pick the firework cut out of a circle, the rockets or the firecrackers, which are solid shapes. Glitter and holographic vinyl suit fireworks well, and so does white or gold on a dark window, where the glass does the work of the night sky.
How to open the files
- Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
- Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
- LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
- Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
- Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.
Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.
Questions
How do I make fireworks in red, white and blue?
Cut the same one-piece burst three times in three colours at three sizes and overlap them, as real bursts do in the sky. Or use the firework burst in three colours, which splits one burst into three layers; swap the gold layer for white if you want the flag colours.
Which firework is best for a shirt?
The firework burst in one piece, the star burst and the three fireworks in the sky. Each is a single piece of heat transfer vinyl with no loose dots to lose, and the trails are wide enough to press cleanly at 150 mm and above. Mirror the design before cutting, as with any iron-on.
Can I use these for New Year as well as the Fourth of July?
Yes. Nothing in the bursts, the willow, the pinwheel or the fountain belongs to one holiday. Cut them in gold and silver for New Year, and keep the rockets and the star burst, which carry stars and stripes, for the Fourth of July.
