Free Christmas tree SVG files

Free Christmas tree SVG files: tiered, scalloped, ribbon, swirl and outline trees, each drawn by code as clean closed shapes that weld into one piece. Download any of them as SVG, PNG or DXF.

24 designs. Free for personal and commercial use, no sign-up. What you can do with them.

Picking a tree for your material

Every file is 100 mm on its longer side, which is the height for all of them except the row of three trees. The classic, simple and three-triangle trees have no part narrower than 6 mm at that size, so they cut cleanly in vinyl, card, felt and 3 mm plywood, and still work at 25 mm tall for gift tags and earrings.

The line trees (ribbon, zigzag, spiral and swirl) are a single band between 2 and 5 mm wide at 100 mm. Keep them at 80 mm or taller in card and wood so the band does not get fragile, and use strong transfer tape for vinyl so the turns stay in place when you lift them.

Trees with cut-outs

On the bauble, star, garland and lights trees the decorations are holes. In vinyl you weed them out and the surface shows through; in card you can glue a second colour behind. At 100 mm the round and star holes are 4 mm or more across and the garland slots are a little over 2 mm wide, so do not cut those designs much below 60 mm tall.

How to open the files

  • Cricut Design Space: choose Upload, pick the SVG, and add it to the canvas. Set the width you want; the shape is already welded.
  • Silhouette Studio: Designer Edition and above open the SVG. The free Basic Edition does not, so open the DXF instead.
  • LightBurn, xTool Creative Space and Glowforge: import the SVG, then set the layer to cut, score or engrave.
  • Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity: open the SVG. It is a plain filled path, so you can recolour it, add a stroke or combine it with your own work.
  • Printing or sublimation: use the PNG, which has a transparent background.

Each design page lists the file’s narrowest part at seven sizes, so you can tell whether it will survive at the size you plan to cut.

Questions

Which Christmas tree is best for a small cut?

The simple triangle tree, the classic three-tier tree and the tree of three triangles. None of them has a narrow part other than the trunk, so they still cut and weed well at 25 mm tall.

How do I make the slot-together tree stand up?

Cut both pieces from stiff board, then slide the piece with the slot at the top down over the piece with the slot at the bottom. The slots are 3 mm wide when the file is 100 mm tall, so keep that size for 3 mm board, or scale the file until the slot matches the thickness of yours.

Can I layer these trees in two colours?

Yes. Cut the classic three-tier tree in green and the Christmas tree outline in a second colour and stack them: they are the same shape, so the outline sits on the edge of the solid tree as a border.
