What makes these the cute ones

The same few changes turn an animal into a baby: a head as big as the body, eyes set low and wide, short legs and rounded corners everywhere. The baby bear, the baby elephant and the kitten here are all drawn that way. It helps the cutting too, because short thick limbs are sturdier than long thin ones.

The sleeping animals are low and wide, which suits the bottom edge of a sign or the space above a name. The sleeping bear lies with its chin on its paws, the sleeping cat is curled in a ball, and the sloth dozes along a branch.

Babygrows, nursery walls and stickers

On a newborn babygrow the design is 75 to 100 mm wide. The baby animals are made for that: the puppy and the kitten are single pieces with the face cut through, so one press of heat-transfer vinyl does the whole thing. Mirror before cutting.

For a nursery wall, cut three or four different babies 200 mm tall from removable vinyl and set them in a row at cot-rail height or above. For stickers, print the PNG and cut round it, or cut the silhouette versions from coloured vinyl at 40 to 50 mm.

Is there a cute version of every animal?

Of most. Sixty-odd animal sets have a baby, a sleeping or a cute design, and those are the ones shown here. New animal sets usually arrive with one.

Where are the food and objects with faces?

On the kawaii page: lemons, donuts, pencils and light bulbs with eyes, a smile and rosy cheeks.

Which are simplest for a child to weed?

The baby elephant silhouette has nothing to weed at all. The sitting puppy and the kitten are single pieces with a few cut-outs for the face, which lift out easily at 150 mm.
