Patterns, not pictures

Most of this library is flat shapes to cut and stick down. These are different: each file is the set of pieces for an object, drawn so that edges that meet are the same length, petals nest inside one another, slots are the width of the card, and tabs sit on one side of each seam. Where a piece folds, the fold is cut as a row of slits, so no scoring tool is needed.

Every page says what the pattern makes and how large it comes out at a stated cut size, worked out from the drawing itself.

Materials

Card of 160 to 220 gsm for flowers, which need to curl; 200 to 250 gsm for boxes, stars and pop up cards, which need to stand; glitter card or thin wood for cake toppers; faux leather or felt for hair bows. Tacky glue grabs quickly on card. Hot glue is the usual choice for flowers and bows, where the join is hidden.

Questions

Are these layered pictures or things that stand up?

Things that stand up or have depth: flowers, boxes, stars, lanterns, pop up cards. For pictures built from stacked sheets, see the shadow box maker.

Do I need a scoring wheel or stylus?

No. Fold lines are cut as slits by the blade. Each template that folds also has a version to print and cut by hand, with dashed fold lines to score if you prefer.
