A princess birthday party

Start with the crown. The princess crown has five pearl-tipped points and a heart cut from its middle; at 150 mm wide in gold card it tops a party banner or a door sign. The crown cake topper stands on two stakes: cut 140 mm wide it is 135 mm tall, with stakes 7 mm wide, which hold in 300 gsm glitter card.

The princess wand is a heart on a stick tied with a bow. Cut two from stiff card at 200 mm tall, glue them back to back over a paper straw or a thin dowel, and each guest has a wand to take home. The crown cupcake wrapper goes round a standard case.

Bedroom doors and dressing-up boxes

For a bedroom door, the princess castle at 250 mm in removable vinyl with the child’s name underneath in a script. Its towers and pennants are fine at that size. For a toy box or a small label, use the simple castle, three blocks with chunky battlements and nothing thin.

The two tiaras are drawn as an even line, not a solid shape, which suits foil, a pen in the machine or a rhinestone template. Cut as vinyl they are narrow bands: lift them with transfer tape.

Questions

Are there princesses from films?

No. Characters belong to the studios that made them. These are generic crowns, castles, wands and gowns that suit any princess theme.

Which crown should I start with?

The classic crown with five points, a ball on each and gems cut from its band. It is the all-purpose one. For a cupcake pick, check its narrowest part at 2 inches on its page first.

Is there something for a fifth birthday?

Yes. Her Royal Fiveness is here as lettering: 160 mm wide on a child’s shirt, or 50 mm tall along a sash.

Is there a carriage?

Not yet. The squat fairytale pumpkin from the pumpkin set is the nearest thing, and it sits well beside the glass slipper.
