Onesies, nursery signs and shower decorations

A design for the front of a newborn bodysuit is small, about 75 to 100 mm (3 to 4 inches) wide, and heat-transfer vinyl on stretchy fabric holds best when shapes are simple. Choose bold silhouettes without fine detail, and mirror the design before cutting, as with any iron-on.

For a nursery sign or a name plaque, the moon, cloud and rainbow sets include frames and shapes with open space for a name. The layered rainbows are made to be cut from several colours of card or wood and stacked.

What size should a design be for a onesie?

About 3 inches wide for newborn sizes and 4 inches for 6 to 12 months. Each design’s page shows its narrowest part at both.
