Purple, green and gold

Mardi Gras has three colours, and most makes use all of them. The Mardi Gras fleur de lis with beads is drawn for that: the fleur de lis in purple, green and gold inside a string of thirty beads, as three layers, one for each colour.

The layered crown comes in gold, red and pearl. Cut its backing from purple in place of red and it joins the set. Everything else here is a single shape with no colour of its own.

Masks for props, invitations and shirts

The simple eye mask is a plain half mask with two almond eye holes and no trim, so it takes glitter, gems or paint however you like. The mask on a stick is made for photo booth props and place cards. The mask with beads has two strings hanging in swags below it, and every bead touches the next, so the whole thing lifts as one piece.

The feathered mask has a plume of five feathers with notched edges, which are the delicate part. Cut it 150 mm wide or more in vinyl. For a shirt, 250 mm across the chest in gold on purple.

Small decals and a crawfish boil

The bold fleur de lis has thicker petals and rounded corners and stays readable at 25 mm, for caps, shirts and keyrings. The split fleur de lis has a bar across it for a family name. For a boil, the crawfish set has a stockpot with claws and feelers poking over the rim beside a cob of corn, and the state of Louisiana with a heart cut out goes on the invitation.

Questions

What do the three colours mean?

By New Orleans tradition, purple stands for justice, green for faith and gold for power.

Is there a jester?

There is a jester hat with three horns and a bell on every tip, in the hat set, and a mask wearing a jester hat in the mask set.

Is there a king cake?

Not as a picture. The cake topper set has a crown on two stakes that stands in one.

Can I wear the masks?

They are drawn as pictures, 100 mm wide. Scaled to about 180 mm and cut from stiff card, the simple eye mask is close to wearable; hold it to your face and check the eye holes before adding elastic.
