Putting vinyl on a glass

Glass curves two ways, so keep designs small and low. On a stemmed wine glass, 55 to 60 mm wide, placed under the widest part of the bowl where the curve is gentlest. On a stemless glass, 65 mm. On a straight tumbler, 70 mm. On a can cooler, 75 mm. Keep everything at least 20 mm below the rim, away from lips.

Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol first and use permanent vinyl. Leave it three days before washing, and wash by hand.

A sign for a home bar

The whiskey barrel head is the end of a barrel drawn as a round sign, with a clear band 31 mm deep across the middle for a family name or the name of a bar. Scale it to 400 mm for a wall and the band is over 120 mm deep. The beer mug monogram frame has an open front for an initial.

Three beer glasses on a bar, three martini glasses on a bar and the bartender’s tools are wide, low designs that fit the space above a shelf of bottles.

Two glasses for a toast

Nearly every set has a clinking pair: two wine glasses, two beer mugs, two beer bottles, two margaritas, two martini glasses, two champagne flutes and two whiskey glasses. They are the designs for an engagement card, a pair of coasters at 90 mm or the top of an anniversary sign.

Questions

Do the bottles have brand labels?

No. The beer, wine, champagne and whiskey bottles all have blank labels, left open for a name, a date or a joke of your own.

Can I etch these into glass?

Yes. Cut the design from adhesive vinyl, weed out the design itself to leave a stencil, stick it down firmly and apply etching cream as its maker directs. Solid silhouettes etch most cleanly.

Which sayings are for a cruise?

Let’s Get Ship Faced, at 220 mm on a vest, and Today’s Forecast Cruising With a Chance of Drinking.

Is there anything without alcohol?

Yes. The coffee cup and tea sets, a glass of lemonade in the lemon set and a milkshake in the ice cream set.
