Rainbows and suns in earth colours

The boho rainbow is four arches with straight legs, the third broken into dashes. The arches are loose pieces, as on a painted one, so each can be cut from its own colour: terracotta, mustard, sage and cream are the usual four. Place them with transfer tape to keep the gaps even.

The macramé rainbow has three thick arches whose legs flare into a cut fringe, like the knotted rope rainbows hung on nursery walls, with one layer per colour over a backing. The three boho suns, a half sun with arches, one with a spiral centre and one with petal rays, sit well above a name on a door sign at 250 mm.

Dream catchers and feathers are fine work

The classic dream catcher is a hoop strung with four rounds of web, with three feathers on beaded threads below. That much thread wants room: 150 mm tall or more in vinyl. The simple dream catcher has a thick hoop, a web of only two rounds and plain feathers, and is the one for felt, wood and small decals.

Among the feathers, the silhouette is a plain solid shape, the one to cut small. The boho feather has slots between its barbs, and the ragged feather has split vanes: weed both slowly, from the quill outwards.

A boho nursery or a bedroom corner

Moon phases in an arch go over a cot or a bedhead at 600 mm wide, in matt vinyl a shade darker than the wall. Stay Wild is two short words at 400 mm. A mandala cut from 3 mm plywood at 300 mm makes a wall hanging on its own; choose one with broad webs and check its narrowest part at that size.

Questions

Which colours make something look boho?

Muted earth tones: terracotta, mustard, sage green, dusty pink and cream, usually on a pale ground. Apart from the layered designs, the files have no colour of their own.

Does the dream catcher cut as one piece?

Yes, the classic and the simple one both do: hoop, web, threads and feathers are joined. The classic one also has a loop at the top to take a cord.

Is there a hamsa or an evil eye?

Both. The hamsa hand with an eye is in the hands set, and the evil eye bead, in four layers, is in the eye set.
