Decorations, shirts and treat bags

Halloween designs are mostly bold silhouettes, which makes them forgiving to cut. Bats, ghosts and pumpkins work at almost any size in vinyl, card or felt. The webs are the exception: they are made of thin strands, so cut them at 100 mm or more, or pick the web in a hoop, which braces every strand.

For a window, cut black card or removable vinyl and stick the pieces to the inside of the glass. For a treat bag, 60 to 80 mm designs fit the front of a standard paper bag. Jack-o-lantern faces come two ways: cut out of a pumpkin shape, or as loose eyes and a mouth to stick on a real pumpkin, a jar or a balloon.

Questions

Can I use the pumpkin faces as carving stencils?

Yes. Print the PNG at the size of your pumpkin, tape it on and prick through the outlines. The faces drawn as loose pieces are the simplest to transfer.

Do the designs glow or need special material?

No. They are plain shapes. Cut them from glow-in-the-dark or reflective vinyl if you want that effect.
