Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.24 in (25 × 6 mm) | 0.48 mm | 99 mm | 270 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 0.49 in (51 × 12 mm) | 0.97 mm | 199 mm | 85 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 3 × 0.73 in (76 × 19 mm) | 1.4 mm | 298 mm | 39 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 4 × 0.98 in (102 × 25 mm) | 1.9 mm | 397 mm | 20 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 6 × 1.46 in (152 × 37 mm) | 2.9 mm | 596 mm | 7 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 1.95 in (203 × 50 mm) | 3.9 mm | 795 mm | 5 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 2.93 in (305 × 74 mm) | 5.8 mm | 1,192 mm | 3 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
