Fur: fur and hair texture drawing from a photo
Thousands of short strands that follow the shapes and gather where the picture is dark. Suits painterly texture: pencil fur, brushed metal or wind in grass, depending on the settings.
Good for painterly texture.
Controls
- Strands · How many strands to draw.
- Strand length · How long each strand is.
More controls
- Curl · Lower: straight strands that lie parallel. Higher: strands bend and swirl.
- Flow smoothness · How smoothly the lines follow the picture. Higher gives calmer, longer strokes.
- Tone curve · Bends the tones before drawing. Above 1 lightens the mid-tones, which helps when a pen pools ink; below 1 darkens them.
Strands that follow the form
Fur scatters short strands over the picture. Each one follows the local direction of the shapes, and more of them gather where the photo is dark. Strands sets how many are drawn, Strand length how long each one is, and Curl whether they lie straight and parallel or bend and swirl. Short, straight strands read as pencil fur; long, smooth ones as brushed metal or wind in grass.
Plotting fur
Thousands of short strokes mean thousands of pen lifts, so Fur is one of the slower styles to plot. The editor estimates plot time as you change settings. Lower Strands for a quicker plot, or for Cricut Design Space, which slows down badly with thousands of objects. Animals with visible fur are the natural subject.
