Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.66 × 1 in (17 × 25 mm) | 0.56 mm | 156 mm | 140 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 1.32 × 2 in (34 × 51 mm) | 1.1 mm | 312 mm | 40 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 1.98 × 3 in (50 × 76 mm) | 1.7 mm | 469 mm | 15 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 2.64 × 4 in (67 × 102 mm) | 2.2 mm | 625 mm | 8 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 3.96 × 6 in (101 × 152 mm) | 3.4 mm | 937 mm | 2 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 5.28 × 8 in (134 × 203 mm) | 4.5 mm | 1,250 mm | 2 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 7.92 × 12 in (201 × 305 mm) | 6.7 mm | 1,875 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
