Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.42 in (25 × 11 mm)	0.25 mm	192 mm	190	Too fine for most machines
2 × 0.83 in (51 × 21 mm)	0.51 mm	384 mm	55	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 1.25 in (76 × 32 mm)	0.76 mm	576 mm	24	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 1.67 in (102 × 42 mm)	1 mm	768 mm	12	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 2.5 in (152 × 64 mm)	1.5 mm	1,152 mm	4	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 3.34 in (203 × 85 mm)	2 mm	1,536 mm	3	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 5 in (305 × 127 mm)	3 mm	2,304 mm	2	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
