Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.69 in (25 × 18 mm) | Over 1.5 mm | 176 mm | 130 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 2 × 1.38 in (51 × 35 mm) | Over 3 mm | 353 mm | 35 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 3 × 2.07 in (76 × 53 mm) | Over 4.6 mm | 529 mm | 15 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 4 × 2.76 in (102 × 70 mm) | Over 6.1 mm | 705 mm | 8 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 6 × 4.14 in (152 × 105 mm) | Over 9.1 mm | 1,058 mm | 2 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 8 × 5.52 in (203 × 140 mm) | Over 12 mm | 1,410 mm | 2 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 8.28 in (305 × 210 mm) | Over 18 mm | 2,115 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
