Distressed speckle texture SVG

Distressed speckle texture, as a solid black shape — Distressed speckle texture. The preview is the SVG file itself.

A fine speckle of small chips with no scratches, thick in drifts and thin between them. The gentlest way to age a design: it reads as worn ink, not damage.

How fine is it at your size?

Scaling a design scales its finest detail too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Smallest mark	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 1 in (25 × 25 mm)	0.28 mm	572 mm	100	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.99 in (51 × 51 mm)	0.56 mm	1,145 mm	25	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 2.99 in (76 × 76 mm)	0.84 mm	1,717 mm	9	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 3.98 in (102 × 101 mm)	1.1 mm	2,289 mm	4	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 5.98 in (152 × 152 mm)	1.7 mm	3,434 mm	1	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 7.97 in (203 × 202 mm)	2.2 mm	4,578 mm	1	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 11.95 in (305 × 304 mm)	3.4 mm	6,867 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The smallest mark is the finest detail in the pattern. Below about half a millimetre it is too small to cut and may fill in when printed. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
