Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.57 in (25 × 15 mm)	0.23 mm	377 mm	150	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.15 in (51 × 29 mm)	0.46 mm	754 mm	45	Too fine for most machines
3 × 1.72 in (76 × 44 mm)	0.69 mm	1,131 mm	18	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 2.3 in (102 × 58 mm)	0.91 mm	1,508 mm	8	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
6 × 3.44 in (152 × 87 mm)	1.4 mm	2,262 mm	3	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 4.59 in (203 × 117 mm)	1.8 mm	3,015 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 6.89 in (305 × 175 mm)	2.7 mm	4,523 mm	1	Vinyl, card and thin sheet

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
