Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.62 in (25 × 16 mm)	0.2 mm	481 mm	140	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.24 in (51 × 32 mm)	0.41 mm	963 mm	40	Too fine for most machines
3 × 1.87 in (76 × 47 mm)	0.61 mm	1,444 mm	15	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 2.49 in (102 × 63 mm)	0.81 mm	1,925 mm	8	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
6 × 3.73 in (152 × 95 mm)	1.2 mm	2,888 mm	3	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 4.98 in (203 × 126 mm)	1.6 mm	3,851 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 7.46 in (305 × 190 mm)	2.4 mm	5,776 mm	1	Vinyl, card and thin sheet

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
