Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.28 in (25 × 7 mm)	0.23 mm	184 mm	250	Too fine for most machines
2 × 0.57 in (51 × 14 mm)	0.46 mm	367 mm	75	Too fine for most machines
3 × 0.85 in (76 × 22 mm)	0.69 mm	551 mm	33	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 1.13 in (102 × 29 mm)	0.91 mm	735 mm	18	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
6 × 1.7 in (152 × 43 mm)	1.4 mm	1,102 mm	6	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 2.26 in (203 × 58 mm)	1.8 mm	1,469 mm	4	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 3.4 in (305 × 86 mm)	2.7 mm	2,204 mm	3	Vinyl, card and thin sheet

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
