Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.64 in (25 × 16 mm)	0.46 mm	341 mm	140	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.27 in (51 × 32 mm)	0.91 mm	683 mm	40	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 1.91 in (76 × 49 mm)	1.4 mm	1,024 mm	15	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 2.55 in (102 × 65 mm)	1.8 mm	1,366 mm	8	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 3.82 in (152 × 97 mm)	2.7 mm	2,048 mm	3	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 5.1 in (203 × 129 mm)	3.7 mm	2,731 mm	2	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic
12 × 7.64 in (305 × 194 mm)	5.5 mm	4,097 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
