Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 1 in (25 × 25 mm)	0.48 mm	384 mm	100	Too fine for most machines
2 × 2 in (51 × 51 mm)	0.97 mm	767 mm	25	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 2.99 in (76 × 76 mm)	1.4 mm	1,151 mm	9	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 3.99 in (102 × 101 mm)	1.9 mm	1,534 mm	4	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 5.99 in (152 × 152 mm)	2.9 mm	2,301 mm	1	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 7.98 in (203 × 203 mm)	3.9 mm	3,068 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic
12 × 11.98 in (305 × 304 mm)	5.8 mm	4,602 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
