Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.99 in (25 × 25 mm) | 0.41 mm | 321 mm | 100 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.98 in (51 × 50 mm) | 0.81 mm | 642 mm | 25 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 3 × 2.98 in (76 × 76 mm) | 1.2 mm | 963 mm | 9 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 4 × 3.97 in (102 × 101 mm) | 1.6 mm | 1,284 mm | 4 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 6 × 5.95 in (152 × 151 mm) | 2.4 mm | 1,926 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 7.94 in (203 × 202 mm) | 3.3 mm | 2,568 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 11.9 in (305 × 302 mm) | 4.9 mm | 3,853 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
