How fine is it at your size?
Scaling a design scales its finest detail too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Thinnest wall | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 1 in (25 × 25 mm) | 0.61 mm | 956 mm | 100 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 2 × 2 in (51 × 51 mm) | 1.2 mm | 1,913 mm | 25 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 3 × 3 in (76 × 76 mm) | 1.8 mm | 2,869 mm | 9 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 4 × 4 in (102 × 102 mm) | 2.4 mm | 3,825 mm | 4 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 6 × 6 in (152 × 152 mm) | 3.7 mm | 5,738 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 8 × 8 in (203 × 203 mm) | 4.9 mm | 7,650 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 12 in (305 × 305 mm) | 7.3 mm | 11,476 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The thinnest wall is the finest detail in the pattern. Below about half a millimetre it is too small to cut and may fill in when printed. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
