“Fur Mama” in Pacifico script in two colours: the words, and a thicker copy behind them shifted down and to the right as a shadow. The shadow layer is one solid piece, which makes the whole design easy to place.

Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.83 in (25 × 21 mm) | 0.94 mm | 390 mm | 110 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 2 × 1.66 in (51 × 42 mm) | 1.9 mm | 780 mm | 30 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 3 × 2.5 in (76 × 63 mm) | 2.8 mm | 1,170 mm | 12 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 4 × 3.33 in (102 × 85 mm) | 3.8 mm | 1,560 mm | 6 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 6 × 4.99 in (152 × 127 mm) | 5.6 mm | 2,339 mm | 2 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 8 × 6.66 in (203 × 169 mm) | 7.5 mm | 3,119 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 9.98 in (305 × 254 mm) | 11 mm | 4,679 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
