Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.24 in (25 × 6 mm)	0.46 mm	144 mm	270	Too fine for most machines
2 × 0.49 in (51 × 12 mm)	0.91 mm	288 mm	85	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 0.73 in (76 × 19 mm)	1.4 mm	432 mm	39	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 0.97 in (102 × 25 mm)	1.8 mm	576 mm	20	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 1.46 in (152 × 37 mm)	2.7 mm	864 mm	7	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 1.94 in (203 × 49 mm)	3.7 mm	1,152 mm	5	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic
12 × 2.92 in (305 × 74 mm)	5.5 mm	1,728 mm	3	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
