Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.73 in (25 × 18 mm)	0.43 mm	151 mm	130	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.46 in (51 × 37 mm)	0.86 mm	303 mm	35	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 2.18 in (76 × 55 mm)	1.3 mm	454 mm	15	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 2.91 in (102 × 74 mm)	1.7 mm	606 mm	6	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 4.37 in (152 × 111 mm)	2.6 mm	908 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 5.82 in (203 × 148 mm)	3.5 mm	1,211 mm	2	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic
12 × 8.74 in (305 × 222 mm)	5.2 mm	1,817 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
